Specifications

Manufacturer

Dell is among the world’s top 3 laptop makers by the number of sold units, together with HP and Lenovo. The USA-based notebook PC manufacturer offers the full range of laptops, including the basic and affordable series with the simple Dell brand name, the Dell Pro business laptops, as well as the high-performance Dell Pro Max.  Dell also makes the Alienware gaming laptops. On the new and refurbished laptop market you can also still find the old Inspiron consumer series, XPS premium-class line, Latitude business laptops, and G-series gaming notebooks.

Series

Dell Latitude is a renowned business-class notebook series.

Laptop Type

Laptop PCs with Windows operating system are the most common notebook computers, followed by MacBooks and Chromebooks. Windows PC laptops offer the widest range of hardware options and price points, giving users more flexibility.

The traditional clamshell laptop design is considered to be the standard one, as opposed to 2-in-1 convertibles.

Business-class laptops are built for reliability and security. They feature durable designs, enterprise-level security features, and sufficient performance to support professionals in demanding work environments.

Performance

Laptops with standard performance are those with the widely used mid-range and upper-mid-range processors. They are an excellent choice for daily home and office computing, as well as slightly more demanding tasks like light gaming and light content creation. For hardcore gaming and professional content creation, high-performance laptops are the better fit.

Typical Use

Even the cheapest laptops with basic specs, besides smoother running mid-rangers, are suitable for the common everyday tasks like web browsing, emails, or document editing. Having a powerful and power-hungry laptop just to complete these tasks isn’t necessary.

Office and productivity laptop tasks typically involve word and spreadsheet processing, presentations, emailing, web research, and multitasking between business applications.

Laptops optimal for studying, schoolwork, and online education offer reliable entry-level and mid-range performance, a good battery life, and support for multitasking and communication in a digital learning environment.

Web browsing and social media tasks don’t require high-end specs. They can be completed easily on entry-level and mid-range laptops with good network connectivity.

Unless you play the latest AAA games for which you need a gaming laptop, lighter games like Minecraft, Roblox, League of Legends, or Sims, you can run decently well on a regular mid-range laptop.

For professional content creation such as high-resolution photo and video editing or music production, a laptop with high performance is recommended. However, for occasional light content creation tasks like 1080p video and basic photo editing, mid-range performance is sufficient, too. In both cases, laptops used for visual content creation should have at least decent screens.

In most cases, coding tasks like web development or app creation aren’t overly hardware demanding. But still, it is beneficial if your laptop provides at least standard performance and 16GB of RAM or higher for seamless multi-tasking and running OS emulations.

Screen Size

The 14-inch diagonal offers a decent screen real estate that’s close to the common 15.6″ and 16″, while enabling a compact laptop design.

Screen Resolution

This is an entry-level screen resolution, oftentimes found on budget laptops. It doesn’t deliver picture sharpness and space on the screen like the Full HD or higher-resolution laptop displays do.

Screen Features

Laptops with TN display technology don’t provide wide viewing angles like on IPS screens, but they tend to be less expensive.

Anti-glare coating reduces ambient light reflections, as opposed to the glare-type displays with more vivid colors.

Processor

The i5-1145G7 is a typical mid-range processor. It’s excellent for the daily home and office tasks, as well as occasional heavy duties like multimedia creation. The i5 is faster than the less expensive i3, but slower than the pricier i7 variant. Thanks to built-in Intel vPro system management technology, it is suitable for business use.

Graphics

The Intel Iris Xe or simply Intel Xe graphics of the 11th, 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core processors delivers an improved, yet still basic, 3D gaming performance over the widely used Intel UHD. But, it greatly lags behind the gaming-class GPUs like the Nvidia GeForce GTX / RTX series found in gaming-class laptops. Overall, the Iris Xe is suitable only for light gaming.

Check out how the Intel Xe compares to other laptop graphics processors on the chart here.

RAM Size

In 2026, 16GB and greater RAM sizes are recommended for daily computing, multitasking, and gaming. Also, some specialized programs require a lot of RAM to work smoothly.

Data Storage

256GB is a decent capacity. If you tend to download and store a lot of large files like movies and install many programs, 512GB or more is a better choice.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The keyboard has no separate numeric pad you can usually find on the right side of the keyboard on many laptop models.

Keyboard backlight makes typing in dark easier.

These touchpads have right click buttons are built into the surface of the touchpad, as opposed to separate physical buttons.

Multimedia & Communication

Web Camera

The built-in web camera enables video conferencing.

Stereo Speakers

Modern mobile computers usually have built-in stereo speakers.

Built-in Microphone

The laptop has a built-in microphone, which is a common laptop feature just like web cameras.

Networking & Wireless

Wi-Fi 6 802.11AX Wireless

The 802.11AX is currently the most used Wi-Fi wireless networking standard. It’s also known as Wi-Fi 6. When connected to 802.11AX-compatible routers, the 802.11AX modules in laptops bring improvements over the older standards in terms of data transfer speeds and multi-device connectivity. In some of the latest laptops, 802.11AX is being replaced by newer 802.11BE standard.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth enables you to wirelessly connect the computer to Bluetooth peripherals like Bluetooth mice and keyboards, as well as to smartphones, and other compatible devices.

Ports & Slots

2 x USB Type A

The laptop has a pair of the traditional USB Type A ports.

2 x USB-C

The device has two USB-C ports.

HDMI

HDMI is a widely used digital video output port. You can find corresponding HDMI input ports on most computer monitors and TVs.

Ethernet LAN RJ45 Port

The laptop has an Ethernet LAN RJ45-type port for wired internet and networking connectivity.

microSD Card Slot

The laptop has a slot for MicroSD memory cards. These are small SD cards commonly used in smartphones.

Combo 3.5mm Audio Jack

This laptop has a standard 3.5mm combo audio jack that supports both headphone output and microphone input simultaneously.

Battery Capacity

42 WHr Battery

42 WHr is one of the battery capacities commonly used in budget-class laptops. It is on the lower end of the spectrum, but it can provide a decent battery life for the regular day-to-day tasks.

Weight

3.1 lbs

Thickness

0.8 inches

Operating System

Year of Release

Laptop models released back in 2021 don’t have the latest components, but are still very usable for daily computing.

Laptop Condition

As opposed to brand new laptops, the refurbished ones may have cosmetic wear, older specs, and shorter warranties. But on the positive side, they cost less than the brand new. In comparison to laptops sold as used, refurbished models are tested and restored.

Warranty

A 90-day laptop warranty typically offers limited coverage for manufacturing defects and basic technical support. It serves as a short-term assurance period often found with refurbished or open-box devices.
