The Intel Pentium N3700 is an entry-level quad-core processor for affordable laptops and 2-in-1 convertibles. It is noticeably faster than the lowest-end chips, such as the Intel Celeron dual-core series, but is still a low-end part suitable only for the basic home and office computing tasks.
The Pentium N3700 from the new 14-nanometer “Braswell” CPU family isn’t faster than its precursors, the Pentium N3500 series 22-nanometer “Bay Trail” chips. However, “Braswell” brings to the table improved Intel HD integrated graphics version for somewhat smoother but still only entry-level gaming and better support for high-def 4K video playback, while having a lower power consumption. The N3700 consumes 6 Watts, as opposed to previous 7.5W.
The CPU has a base clock speed of 1.6GHz, whcih can “burst” up to 2.4GHz for a short period of time if needed. There’s also a Pentium N3710 version which is basically the same chip with burst frequency of up to 2.56GHz for slightly better performance.
Very good in-depth answer, but may I ask how to overclock it? I cannot enter the BIOS screen so I am looking for some software that can. Thank you.

N3700 isn´t capable of overclocking. The Burst is the build-in overclocking feature.
Just threw in the towel with Lenovo’s desktop n3700. Whatever one tried it would perform like a Pentium III with a beefy video card.
It is simply INCREDIBLY slow and the old E7200 it was planned to replace felt much more speedy. I did everything I could but there was nothing one could do. The i/o was slower than anything I have seen and the CPU could simply not cope with the most basic tasks.
The only thing it was good at was viewing videos which is the task it will end doing during the rest of its life. The overall feeling was like using a mobile phone with a FullHD display.
I think the N3710 can be a good chip with the right system, I find my system to be quite responsive, a Dell 3168 with 4gb ram and 240gb SSD, I do not play games, but surf with chrome browser with 5 to 8 tabs opened, and MS office opened at the same time, no lag.
When I wrote this reply, chrome 3 tabs opened, MS office opened and Foxit PDF opened.
No problems with speed of typing and no lag.
I also have an HP i3 6100u 8gb ram 256 ssd system which is faster but not so much that I do not like using my Dell.
Pentium N3700 is an entry level laptop and notebook processor suitable for low end games like GTA san andreas, vice city, Max Payne3 etc. It gives a decent speed for daily Home users like me with a quick boot time and very few lags..considering its price its a good one and if u are in low budget u should go for it…. I want to buy an HP ProBook with this processor as a backup to my 17 inch laptop mainly for use with Office, especially Excel. It’s more portable. Is it a good processor for Excel?
I think this is the slowest chip i’ve ever used. I have an HP with a N3700 and it seems to have trouble with the factory installed software. The boot time is ridiculous and it seems to struggle with every task on Win 10. The boot time alone for Win 10 is ridiculous. Slowest chip ive ever used in its current configuration. Very disapointed.
